on adore tous les deux les photos sur le vif qui racontent une histoire et dans lesquelles on sent les émotions des gens
Mathilde & Philippe

There was something wonderfully ordinary about this day — the kind of ordinary that stays with you.
Mathilde and Philippe didn’t want a production. They wanted to wake up at home, wander through the neighbourhood they love, and celebrate with the people who make their world feel like theirs. We’d talked about it for months — over beers, wine, and more than a few good snacks.
We knew the rain would probably tag along — and it did. Still, we pulled on our jackets and met early anyway, invited their dog for a walk around the park, jumped over puddles, laughed about it, warmed our hands around coffee, and split off to grab our things. A small ritual that set the tone for everything that followed.
The day unfolded gently. Less performance, more presence. The glances, the hugs, the quiet pauses. And then the sun woke up and decided to join us just as they walked down the aisle, fingers intertwined. The air felt charged; my hands were trembling as I photographed — a sign, always, that I’m right there with them.
At Hoogan & Beaufort, the open kitchen carried its own rhythm — plates and voices and fire blending into the soundtrack of the evening. There was a shared sense of care in the room: for food, for craft, for each other. And later, outside, a small yet grand moment with Mathilde’s father caught me off guard. “You taught me humility,” he told her. I still think about that.
Photographed on analog (35mm and 120 film) and digital, this memory box moves from slow morning softness to late-night warmth through texture, movement, and colour — a simple, honest portrait of a day lived fully. It also became my first Art Book: a quiet object that holds the melody of their day.
Months later, we met again for coffee in their neighbourhood. Spring had quietly turned to summer, then autumn. They left with their book and gifts for their parents. I left with hugs. That evening, they welcomed friends for dinner.
And just like that, one chapter closed and another began.
