Gabrielle Maurer is a Montréal-based photographer and the artist behind petites.images. Trained as a violinist and later as a lawyer, she now devotes her practice to storytelling through photography, working primarily with analog media across a range of formats.
Her neurodivergence informs an instinctive and deeply relational approach, rooted in presence, care, and attention. Her work embodies the quiet act of witnessing, exploring the emotional textures that shape how moments are felt, held, and remembered.
Over the past few years, Gabrielle has documented wedding celebrations across the globe while developing an intimate relationship with her craft. Through this, she has come to understand the kind of magic that emerges from deep, embodied presence and empathy — and the patience required to move beyond the surface of things. Her photographs remain as traces of that work.
Alongside her wedding practice, she accompanies families, couples and individuals through different seasons of life, creating space for their truth to unfold gently and honestly. These commissions — her love letters — are her way of serving and giving back locally, here in Québec.
Gabrielle calls Montréal home, and often makes the long drive to Gaspésie (Baie-des-Chaleurs) in between projects — to catch sunsets and share warm meals with her parents and sister, who have traded the city life for longer walks beneath the trees.
