Makenna & Austin

  • Austin’s sister reached out a few weeks before he planned to propose to Makenna. He had organized a long weekend in Montréal to celebrate, and she wanted to gift him something that would grow in meaning over time.

Funny how life aligns sometimes. I had just returned from visiting my own brother and his girlfriend in Paris — the place he’d been calling home for a year. I had never seen him so happy. It felt like he’d grown ten years in just a few months, in the best possible way.

Her excitement for her brother reminded me so much of my own feelings as a big sister. We just want the best for them — for them to be happy, to spread their wings, to live fully.

So of course, it was a pleasure to plan a fun afternoon around my favorite neighbourhood in the city — my own — to celebrate with them and give them a space to simply be themselves, floating on cloud nine.

Photographed on 35mm film, Makenna and Austin’s memory box was inspired by the sweetness of young love, their shared (and very contagious) obsession with the neighbourhood’s seasonal flowers, and Austin’s family farm — where he grew up, where he’d proposed just days earlier, and where they dream of being married.

  • Neighborhoods of Plateau Mont-Royal and Mile End, in the heart of Montreal - my home.

  • ± 2h30 spent together. Photographed on 35mm film & crafted for a digital memory box.

  • Processing: All Things Film
