Personal Postcard from Gaspésie
-
This is a very personal postcard from my time with my sister, a few months after she moved to the beautiful region of Gaspésie — a long ten-hour drive from our hometown.
I work hard at staying close to the source in my practice. But my sister is the source. She can float on the river for hours. Hike mountains the way I run out for coffee. She speaks to animals — or maybe she’s simply the one who listens. Fierce as the wind. Tender as tulips.
Her move made perfect sense for her. But I miss her.
We’ve grown closer these last few years as our family moved through a small-but-big eruption of neurodivergent discoveries. Just like our dad and brother, it seems we, too, are autistic — and likely ADHD as well. AUDHD, they call it. It’s different for women. And different between the two of us. And yet, somehow, it feels like we now share the same mind — a quiet knowing that wherever we are, neither of us is alone.
I miss her, my sister. So I’m writing this while sitting with her dog on her porch — La Maison Papillon.
this one also happened to be my test roll on my first leica m6. she’s been with me to all of my weddings ever since.
